Going beyond Fermat's last theorem

Check out T. Jayaraman's article, in The Hindu, on a recent advance in Number Theory.

Anand, just curious. Khare's webpage at Utah looks outdated (eg. it shows courses from Fall 2003), and he is listed as an Academic member (and not a visitor) at TIFR. Does this mean something? Thanks!

Prof. Khare's paper can be found here.

Related papers by him are:

Paper 1
Paper 2

All of his papers in arxiv can be seen here.

Vishnu -- He might not have updated the main page. But the page where his papers can be downloaded has the latest preprints. In particular the work mentioned in The Hindu article is the content of the first two preprints over there. What Jayaraman wrote in The Hindu is right: "Before he moved to the United States in 2004 to take up a position on the University of Utah faculty as Associate Professor, Dr. Khare was on the TIFR faculty for nearly a decade."

Umesh -- Thanks for providing the links, and of course for your interest.

Anand, thanks for the info. I missed the line which said that he was at TIFR for some time.

Umesh, thanks for the links.
