I actually found them pretty informative -- but then, my knowledge of Andaman/Nicobar is very small. The one problem I had was in the beginning of the first piece, where he tried to make the Tsunami into a metaphor for political problems that already existed on the island.
But his stuff on Malacca is interesting. And the characters he meets, the aid 'bottleneck' issue, and his fine eye for detail are all in evidence. There is better reportage on the Tsunami out there, to be sure (Dilip D'Souza and so on), but I still think these are worth reading.

Anand,
I finally got around to reading them.

Could you say more about what you didn't like?
Thanks Amardeep. I didn't expect such a question, and I'm afraid I do not have a clear answer! Anyway, I'm trying to answer in a separate post.
